This must be one of the most beautiful views in Hampshire. What could be better than a working lunch sitting in the sunshine looking at that?

The Amazing Tentsile

20th March 2015

Tentsile

The tentsile has arrived and we have set it up. Our son describes it as different, fun and exciting. We think he’s right. It’s like a piece of magic hidden in the wood and it is nothing like anything you have seen before. He can’t wait to sleep in it.

Spring has arrived

11th March 2015

SkylarkIt has been a joy to hear the skylarks singing away as I’ve walked the farm the last few days.  These birds are on the Red List due to their rapid decline, but we regularly have some nesting on the farm.  They are easy to spot high in the air once you have heard their song and will breed from April to August in nests hidden in the middle of fields.  That’s why we ask visitors to keep their dogs on leads round the fields.

Buzzard nest

6th February 2015

Walking on the farm I recently saw a buzzard nest. These birds nest in the same area each year, but do not use the same nest in successive years. However it does mean that we should have a nest on the farm this spring, with the young due to hatch mid-May. Last year we could hear the young in the wood behind the tent. Perhaps you will too this spring. Certainly you should see buzzards soaring over the fields whatever time you come.

The fattest hare?

12th January 2015

Walking in the glorious sunshine yesterday I spotted a hare careering over the field.  It was definitely the fattest I had ever seen, and a delight to watch with his long legs and black tipped ears.  A minute or two later 6 deer were bounding across the next field – one of the biggest groups I have seen on the farm.

That stove is amazing

29th December 2014

We celebrated the pitching of the tent with friends and family on Christmas Eve. A lovely walk up the farm under the stars, then mulled wine in the warmth inside with the wood burner flaming under the glow of fairy lights.  It was a great start to Christmas.

The safari tent has arrived

15th December 2014

The safari tent has arrived, and like everyone else who has been to the site the first comment was “What a lovely view”. It really is a place to relax and soak in the natural beauty all around.
